Bluemation

Automation for Logistics & Warehousing

Control systems for sortation, transport, palletising and warehouse management. We integrate with WMS and ERP for a fully connected logistics operation.

Our Experience

Tailored automation for this sector

Modern logistics demands speed, precision and complete traceability. Automated distribution centres and warehouses are environments where industrial automation directly drives competitiveness: a faster sortation line, a more flexible palletiser or seamless WMS integration can mean millions of euros difference per year.

At Bluemation we have developed automation projects in medium and large-scale logistics centres: from PLC programming for conveyor belts and sortation systems to robotic palletising cells with machine vision and barcode/RFID sorter management.

Our experience covers both the control layer (PLC, HMI, SCADA) and integration with warehouse management systems (WMS) and corporate ERPs, ensuring complete traceability from goods-in to despatch.

Sector Challenges

Key automation challenges in this sector

01

High speed and throughput

Sorters and conveyors operate at high speeds with millisecond tolerances. We design optimised PLC programmes for real-time response, queue management and complex flow control without bottlenecks.

02

WMS and ERP integration

The plant control system must communicate in real time with the WMS to receive orders, confirm movements and update stock. We implement OPC-UA, REST API and database interfaces for robust bidirectional integration.

03

Multi-SKU flexibility

Modern warehouses manage hundreds or thousands of SKUs with frequent changes. We design systems with recipe management and parametric configuration that allow adaptation without reprogramming.

04

24/7 availability

A stopped warehouse costs money. We implement advanced diagnostics, predictive alarms, secure remote access and detailed documentation so maintenance teams can resolve incidents quickly.

05

Traceability and error control

Every movement must be recorded: barcode, RFID, verification cameras and WMS history integration. We implement complete traceability with automatic detection and diversion of errors.

06

Machine and personnel safety

Automated logistics installations are environments where workers and moving equipment coexist. We implement safety systems per ISO 13849/IEC 62061: barriers, laser scanners and emergency stops.

Applications

Solutions we apply in this sector

Sortation systems

PLC programming for high-speed sorters: pop-up sorters, cross-belt, tilt-tray and comb classifiers. Barcode/RFID reading and dynamic destination assignment.

Robotic palletising

Palletising cells with FANUC, ABB and KUKA robots. Robot programming, line PLC integration, machine vision for layer verification and automatic pattern change.

Conveyors and transport

Automation of transport systems: rollers, belts, pallet chains and lifts. Speed control, accumulation and buffer, safety zones and WMS interface.

Warehouse SCADA

Real-time supervision: pallet position, zone occupancy, throughput KPIs, alarm history and performance reporting.

WMS/ERP integration

Interfaces between the control system (PLC/SCADA) and the client's WMS or ERP. Movement confirmation, pick order management and real-time stock updates.

Safety systems

Design and implementation of safety systems for logistics installations: safety relays, Pilz/Siemens safety controllers, ISO 13849 validation and risk assessment documentation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you integrate the automation system with our WMS?
Yes. We implement interfaces between the control system (PLC/SCADA) and the WMS — over OPC-UA, SQL database, REST API or specific connectors. The integration enables receiving move orders, confirming operations and updating stock in real time.
Do you work with FANUC, ABB and KUKA robots for palletising?
Yes. We programme palletising industrial robots from the leading brands: FANUC (with TP and Karel), ABB (RAPID), KUKA (KRL) and Universal Robots. We integrate the robot with the line PLC for unified material-flow management.
Which machine vision systems do you use in logistics?
We use Cognex and Keyence vision systems for barcode and QR reading, label verification, palletising error detection and shape sorting. We also integrate Datalogic and Zebra barcode readers for product identification.
